Professional Background
I am a registered Educational Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults to overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential.
My career began in South Africa where I completed a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and an internship through the Child and Family Centre. I registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa in 2010 and worked across a range of educational and clinical settings, providing assessment, intervention, and consultation services.
Areas of Expertise
I have specialist expertise in a wide range of assessments, including:
- Learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia)
- ADHD and autism
- Cognitive and academic profiling
- Emotional and behavioural concerns that affect learning
I have also been involved in curriculum development and the design of teacher training programmes that translate psychological theory into practical classroom strategies. A core focus of my work is empowering teachers and parents with evidence-based tools to create inclusive, responsive learning environments.
Experience in Aotearoa New Zealand
In 2022, I relocated to Aotearoa New Zealand and registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. I worked within the Ministry of Education’s Learning Support (severe behaviour service), supporting complex cases and collaborating with teachers, whānau, professionals, and other agencies.
This mahi has strengthened my understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and continues to guide my development toward culturally responsive and meaningful practice.
Approach to Practice
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I aim to provide clear and practical assessment feedback with recommendations that can be implemented across home, school, and community settings. My goal is to support each learner to build confidence and achieve meaningful progress.
